"Kick a Jew Day"

Email Print PDF

Well, apparently some "lessons need to be learned" down in Naples, FL, where the community is in a ruckus after about ten students were kicked in observance of "Kick a Jew Day." No need to worry about anti-Semitism; the superintendent has explained that "Though one girl complained that she was kicked because she was Jewish, others who were kicked on Nov. 19 became victims for other reasons, Thompson said, adding that two of the students who participated in the kicking incidents were Jewish."

Well, that's comforting. No need to worry about being targeted as a victim because you are Jewish just so long as others are targeted too. And so long as a Jew participates in targeting someone else, the fact that one of the victims was told that she was chosen because she is Jewish is not relevant.

Oh, it's just a "quiet lack of tolerance" but no actual "upsurge in anti-Semitism."

Indeed, no doubt "Kick a Qu--r Day" has nothing to do with homophobia, "Kick a Ni---r Day" nothing to do with racism, and "Kick a Chick Day" isn't degrading to women.

The very fact that an event like this is poo-pooed while the ten perpetrators punished with a "one-day in-school suspension" (what in the world is that?) tells us what these kids are actually learning about religious tolerance.

As for me, I say we Jews should get our heads out of the sand and prepare ourselves for the coming storm.
